We have two kune kune sisters, Hilda and Fresa. Also pets for life like yours and the first “farm animals” we got after relocating from the city to our farm. Loved reading about Luigi and Smudge and can relate to everything, especially their greetings. We say the pigs are the most polite animals in our family. They always acknowledge everyone with an oink to say hello, even our other animals.

Ali, I just love your pigs names! Yes I agree re how polite pigs are- Luigi and Smudge are such social animals, and at this stage we have learned to understand their spectrum of grunts and know their moods, from Luigis plaintive 'why didn't you bring me a snack' grunt to Smudges mischievous short low pitched grunts when he wants to play with someone. They are wonderful. Thankyou so much for the message :)

Little pigs with a penchant for belly tickles are the best…

My dream. So much so that my son bought me the National Trust Book of Pig Keeping about 16 years ago. I still live in hope.

What a beautiful post to read. I longed for a housepig - or a near-the-housepig - but as you say, they don’t really work with gardens. Dear Luigi and Smudge ❤️❤️
